Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xsane

Looks like a problem with udev rules or something like that ???

sudo xsane works perfectly, don't know wich device file or anything it
uses.

As user sane-find-scanner find the scannerĀ :
[...]
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0811 [USB2.0
MFP(Hi-Speed)]) at libusb:001:006
[...]

I given authorization for user everywhere I know :
* administration => authorization => device-access => Directly access scanners
(Yes/yes/yes + explicit authorization
* administration => users & groups => user properties : send/receive fax, added
in saned group

I restarted the system after these right was added.

but with my main users, xsane doesn't find the scanner.

I then installed the 'sane' package, xscanimage/scanimage works perfectly with
the same user.
Then I can launch xsane, it works... ???

will add info after reboot...

** Affects: xsane (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
