Public bug reported: On a brand new Kubuntu 9.04 RC install (amd64, alternative install disc) with only Firefox added to the system (via apt-get), I can reliably lock up the system by going to System Settings ->Desktop -> Desktop Effects -> and then doing anything. The first time I went there, I clicked "Enable desktop effects" and the Accept Configuration dialogue popped up, and the system immediately locked up. Cntr-Alt-Backspace is disabled and there was nothing that I could do but pull the switch. When I restarted the system Desktop Effects were enabled, but clicking on any option in System Settings ->Desktop -> Desktop Effects locks up the system, requiring me to pull the switch.
