It would appear that a great many people are affected - in fact it sounds like most people who have onboard VGA and/or 2 cards from different vendors encounter this problem. ATI appears to be especially problematic. I already offered my services to the xserver-xorg maintainers to see if there was some way I might be able to help but received no response.
