I got some extra details. Recording from the monitor device works, but
changing the device while recording causes the problem. When I set the
monitor as the default device and after that started recording it
worked. But when I changed the device from the monitor to my real mic it
crashed again.

** Summary changed:

- Recording from monitor device crashes the recording applications
+ Changing the record device while recording crashes the recording applications

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Sound recording applications crashes or just don't get any input when I
- record output sound from the monitor device. It worked with Intrepid,
- but not with Jaunty.
+ change the record device while recording.

  How to reproduce:
  1. Start an audio recording program (I have tested gnome-sound-recorder,
mumble and some others)
- 2. Open the Pulseaudio Volume Control and move the recording application to
record from the monitor device.
- 3. Try to use your recording program and check if it recorded any sound or
crashed.
+ 2. Open the Pulseaudio Volume Control and move the recording application to
record from another device.
+ 3. Try to use your recording program and check if it recorded any sound or
crashed
