I had this problem but typing in the command "sudo rmmod floppy" solved
it!

press Ctrl+Alt+F2, etc., to access other command prompts that shouldn't
receive this default output.

I think the original reporter, Tillanz and myself are both fairly
confident that the root cause is defective USB hardware in some way. The
problem is really that the defective hardware makes the console
unusable.
At least in my case removing the defective hardware is not really an

I was having the same issue, but I wanted to let you all know how I fixed it. I
hope that this will fix your issue as well. I had a defective USB hub plugged
into my computer, which caused Ubuntu to display the "unable to enumerate"
error. You all might want to check for defective USB

This definitely only seems to be an issue for me on 9.10 and not 9.4. As
well as the symptoms here I have a few USB devices which worked before
upgrading and don't now - am looking for specific bug reports now.

I'm having the same problem after updating to kubuntu karmic koala 9.10. When I
press 'Ctrl+Alt+F1' i can always see this message:
