Same problem
So it fails to work out of the box on a system I haven't tampered with.
IMHO it's a bug.
My assumption is that login should automatically grant the user teh
appropriate perms on the vcs files.

Thanks for your work. There is a new version on Debian (4.7.0), do you know if
the fix is still necessary ? I quickly backported the packages from Debian on
my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive/unstable) if you need to test it.
Also it will be nice if you can give us a link of the upstre
I just test installed the package and the buggy behavior persists.
As far as Fedora, I really don't know which commit it was. It was just
mentioned in the change log. It was possibly reverted or perhaps never
was done in the ubuntu fork, since it was likely a fedora specific
issue.

cons.saver isn't even present at all, let alone with the wrong
permissions.
