After doing the xrandr command just above, the GUI seems to work just
fine to change the resolution of the monitors, but it won't then allow
you to switch off the second monitor.

I have the same problem as initially described, however I noticed that
my Fn-F7 key works (did not work in previous Ubuntu releases) so this
issue is currently solved for me. I hope this helps some of you as a
temporary solution.

architecture, which resolves a huge number of issues. We do not know

(and the segfault in Xrandr) only happens on one monitor I have - I
tried another (newer) monitor and two projectors and it worked fine

We have a laptop here with a Intel 915 that gives the same message.
Attempting to use Xrandr just results in a segmentation fault if the

I was able to repeat this earlier but currently with xserver-xorg-video-
intel 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.2.
This has never occured to me when using xrandr from command line.
