Yes, it definitely is a usability bug.I have set the status to confirmed.
Should have done so when I originally commented.
I have also updated the bug description.
As to how exactly a better design should look:
*A Save As pop up could quickly get annoying.
*The program currently _does_ things

At the same time, that just makes this a usability bug. The method for
this is complete backwards compared with how the rest of the Gnome
desktop functions. There are 2 plausible solutions that I can see. 1.
change the Save
That is what I thought, too. But what is really going on is that gtk-
recordmydesktop saves the recording automatically. So it expects the
user to press save as and input a filename before starting the
recording. This is not like the other programs do it and therefore
stumps the user. It needs
