I noticed that if I close the display after the screen saver turns on,
the display turns back on. This isn't related to the screen being
locked.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it, but there it is!
Also, I noticed this only happens on this laptop. I'm burning a live CD
now to make sure it isn't a problem with my install.
If this is all else that is needed, I'll switch back to new.

I just checked this with a LiveCD, and it still happens. This only
happens on this laptop, all my others function correctly. Also, if I
close the lid after the screen saver turns on due to the specified time
limit, the display stays off. It only happens if I manually lock the
screen.
