ok guys thanks for the info. I'm closing this bug since the reporter is
not using our package.
Clax: your problem is caused by not having libstdc++5 since the upstream
version needs it (most likely the cauase)
Please report this upstream but first try installing libstdc++5, if it happens
again

I don't have Google Calendar installed. Yet, somehow the reported crash
reappeared - but until now I failed to realize any strict reason. There
seems to be an interplay with jedit (or Java). When jedit is opened,
sometimes (not always!) Sunbird crashes, when I start it. If right after
the crash I

I have a desktop and a laptop, both 64-bit, using thunderbird. I have
what seems like the same problem (get segfault) but only on the desktop
machine. I have copied the profile from the laptop to the desktop with
no apparent help.
Ie. with an identical profile, the desktop crashes, and the laptop
In fact, I have got TB to crash without googlecal provider installed
(removed via synaptic) - however, prior to crashing it brings up error
messages (presumably because I removed it in synaptic, without disabling
it in thunderbird).
But apport doesn't detect the crash, or give an opportunity to
everyone else seeing this bug please file your own bug.

Bugs,
I've been using Thunderbird with Lightning but NOT the Google Provider
extension for the past couple of weeks and had no crashes at all. I
then installed Provider yesterday and have started experiencing the
crashes again, so it does seem to be Provider that's the problem. I
just filed a bug
I tried Bart's suggestion of disabling password caching, but I'm still
experiencing the problem. Is there anything else we can do to get this
bug looked at or worked on?

Gpd6: File a bug using apport so i have all the info at hand to find out what
is wrong. Make sure you do not have
Provider for Google Calendar installed and make a new profile.

The problem persists after creating a new profile.
As stated above, I get following error when running in debug mode:

I'll try disabling password for the Provider plugin as well, but that's
surprising that that helps for you, because when I uninstalled Provider
and left Lightning installed, I still had this problem.

I'm still experiencing this problem. I'd really rather not have to
create a new profile, it becomes a big problem to have to manage my mail
across two different profiles. Is there anything else I can do provide
more information for troubleshooting this?

I'm also still experiencing this problem.
Thunderbird suddenly segfaults after a while.
When that happens, I can't start it again (constant segmentation faults)
unless I wait about an hour or so.
I can start thunderbird in safe mode.
I also use the google calendar lightning plugin.
I've

First please dont mark bugs as new if you are going to change it make it

We need you to test with new profile.
Please give me the name of the google calendar extension and where you got it

Sorry about the status change, since previous status was new I thought
it would be best to reset it.
I'm using 'Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1'
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/4631
Will try new profile and let you know if it resolves the problem.

What happens if you use a new Thunderbird profile and add lightning to it as
needed, Just set up one email at this time. I'm not sure if this is lightning
causing this just removing it does not mean it is lightning. The changes made
to 0.9 from 0.8 are not really all that much. I upgraded fine
The reported problem disappeared on my PC, without me having any idea of
the reason. When making the same upgrade on a different PC (with almost
the same programmes, extensions, etc.), the problem did not show up.
Thus I'm unable to recall it and make any tests.
