The just-released ALSA 1.0.23 may help. From the changelog:
- ALSA: hda - Add Bass Speaker switch for HP dv7
The bass speaker is controlled via GPIO5.

The speakers and headphone work properly when adding this to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and reboot:
options snd-hda-intel model=targa-dig
No subwoofer though..

Same problem on an MSI EX620.
I also needed to manually edit the 'alsa-base.conf' file to incluse the
'3stack-dig' option. What is strange as well is that I have to enable

Hi, I have the same problems with audio on a MSI EX623X-077EU laptop. It
has the same audio circuits ( 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio ). I managed
to make the front speakers (left and right) working. i edited
nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and added these lines at the end

I also cannot get the subwoofer working on MSI EX625-227US, which has an
