I don't know about others, but this is fixed for me in Karmic. Also, the
sound system has been in such flux that any bug filed against Jaunty is
probably obsolete. If anyone is still having quiet sound, it's probably
a different cause. So my recommendation is to close this as invalid, or
fixed in

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
