I have probilly the same problem. I can make connection and can see the
desktop. The mouse moves on de desktopsreen but the screen don't
refresh. It accepts de commands from the mouse and the keyboard. When i

jjericho is right. The mouse clicks are actually doing something on the
server but the client screen does not refresh.
I was able to reproduce this connecting to Ubuntu 9.04 from Windows XP
using either

I've also duplicated this issue on my own network. Ubuntu 9.04 32bit
running on a simple HP laptop and using Macbook Pro OSX 10.5 to remote
to the Linux machine. I can watch it from across the room and see it
responding as normal but if I watch the local VNC window it's a static
image, as if

I'm experiencing the same problem on a german version of ubunto 9.04. Before
the update everything was working fine. Now I'm experiencing the same problem
either connecting from a macbook pro (desktop sharing, chickenVNC) or from my
windows machines (using ultra vnc)
