I installed Kubuntu 9.04 today after using one of the pre-release
version of it, and the touchpad doesn't have any of the extra functions
it used to, like the virtual scroll wheel. Scrolling suddenly
disappeare
Whereever your computer may be the bug is still there but because there
is no one to help out now for information so I will mark this bug as a
duplicate of another such symptom for the cases that I discussed above.
In case someone could completely eliminate this bug please let me know
how to
Hi Jeremy and Paul I've been triaging bugs related to touchpads for a
while and according to my experience this happerns to sony vaio AlPS
touchpad or Elantech touchpads. You could possibly tell which touchpad
you had??

Hi Jeremy, the laptop has since passed on and is now in Silicon Heaven
with all the calculators. (Red Dwarf if you don't recognise the mis-
quote), so it's no longer an issue. If you let me know how to 'close'
the bug I'll happily do so, but I've also noticed that it's been set to

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.
If it remains an issue,
Probably a kernel bug - HAL doesn't know about the touchpad.
