Unfortunately there is no live CD of Karmic for PPC available. There is
only the "alternate cd", which does not contain a live system.
Instead I have build the original version 1.72 from upstream. This
version works pefectly. So, it is either a problem of version 1.51 or of
ubuntu-patches (if any)
Would you mind trying a Karmic live CD, which has transmission 1.72?

Up to now, there is no newer version than 1.51 available for
Jaunty/powerpc, I think. So I cannot test if the bug still persists in
1.71.

Is there anyone with a PowerPC who can try to duplicate this crash?
Also, Jan: 1.71 has a rewritten file list, because the old version
didn't scale very well to huge file lists. (The person who reported
this was using a .torrent of the untarred Linux kernel source as a
torture test. ;)

Those gtk error messages before the crash are very telling (I think).
It looks to me like the gtktreemodel is getting corrupted, which is why
the gtk gui is asking libtransmission to get download information on a
file index that's out of range.

Sorry, that "certain torrents" was not really specific ;)
The problem seems to be related to the number of files inside a torrent.
Torrents with like <5 files don't cause any problems, whereas torrents
with more files make transmission crash.
