Fantastic! That did it.
It is strange that this was not addressed sometime ago. I do agree with
lanzen in post #6 that it seems to be an issue with systems that
kubuntu-desktop was installed after initial install of ubuntu. That was
my situation.

The work around here looks to be quite simple, I wonder why it is not solved
yet... I created a patch for myself that is attached to this post. Steps are:
1) Run "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop"
2) Apply the patch: download "fix_kubuntu_docs.patch" attached and run "sudo
patch -p0 < fix_kub
Same issue here on Jaunty. I've also tried what has been described
(package purging, manually re-creating the "kubuntu" dir and so on).
Now I have two kubuntus installed on two similar machine and I'm using
the same ppa repos, but on machine A kubuntu-docs fails while on machine
B it's been succes
I am having the same issue. Unfortunately I have nothing useful to add.

I am having the same problem. I am using Ubuntu 9.04, but last week
installed the kubuntu-desktop. I am having the same issues as listed in
this bug for kubunut-docs (9.04.02). Has a work around been found as of
yet?

Tried manually creating the directory
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kubuntu/ and then repeating the installation
"aptitude -f install."
It appears that the installation *_deletes_* the directory.
