Hi there... I have the same problem. Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid... and the
solution provided by "noreturn" doesn't exists. The link doesn't work.

I've just installed Ubuntu 9.10 (32-bit) and the 'green screen' problem
is still there
- I tested it on 30-Oct-2009
- I'm using Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop
- Ubuntu 9.10 is the only OS installed on the laptop
- Only 2 additional application installed after the default installation were

i solved my problem updating my Kernel
at first i installed ubuntu 8.10, and my web-cam (microsoft vx-1000) didn't
work, i tried updating to 9.10, but still didn't work
so... i went back to 8.10, and updated my kernel to the 6.12.29 version. My
camera started to work, not as good as on vista, but

i have the same problem and same webcam, it worked fine with kernel
2.6.28-11-generic, i updated to kernel 2.6.28-12 version and now it
doesn't work, it shows that same error message.. and the green screen...
