so you are using hardy using the ~network-manager PPA to get 0.7.1 from
there? We updated the version to final 0.7.1; i guess that didnt fix it
for you?

I have not tried. I went instead to Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix with its
0.7 network manager and my modem worked out the box and more reliably
than 8.04/PPA. The modem worked out of the box with 9.04 NBR and in a
few seconds. Plug in - choose provider 3 and its working!
I have no reason to
