Ti
Soren Hauberg, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

Sorry, I left a comment here instead of doing it on bug #482699.
Anyway, I have a firewire express card and I got it working with the
method I reported above.
It should be nice to have it by default in Maverick.

You re
I confirm the problem even in Lucid.
To fix it you need to pass this parameter to the kernel at boot:
pciehp.pciehp_force=1
Grub -> Open /boot/grub/menu.lst
Grub 2 -> Open /etc/default/grub
add "pciehp.pciehp_force=1" at the end of the kernel parameters line.
e.g.
Grub
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2
Same on Lenovo s10:
card work fine on Windows Vista (another notebook) - win detect it normally in
already booted time.
ubuntu 9.04 see card only after insert in boot time? BUT WiFi disappear !
also ubuntu can`t see cam recorder plugged un ExpressCard (Windows = OK)

Firewire express card do
It should be noted that the express card works if it is inserted in the
machine before it's being booted. So, the problem seems to be hotplug
related.
