The pidgin plugin for facebook functioned in the following:
signon, status updates, buddy list (friends signing in/out)
and failed in the following way:
sending messages (Authentication Error)
and was not tested:
receiving messages.
The following fixed it:
# apt-get remove pidgin-facebookchat
# wget
http://pidgin-facebookchat.googlecode.com/files/pidgin-facebookchat-1.50.tar.bz2
# cd /
# tar xjvf $OLDPWD/pigdin-facebookchat-1.50.tar.bz2
