Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

In diagnosing certain classes of bugs, it is useful to know which
version and type of Ubuntu installation media was used to install the
system. This data can be found in /cdrom/.disk, particularly the "info"
and "cd_type" files.

If this information were copied to the installed system somewhere, it
could easily be attached to bug reports using apport.
