No I haven't restarted from backup. The OS has only been installed since Fall of 2008. The line you mentioned is included in the initd./mysql script. The rest of my /etc/mysql directory is: drw-r- 2 root root 4096 2009-04-26 08:06 conf.d -rw--- 1 root root 312 2008-11-29 07:56
