They are currently:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1198 2008-03-19 13:58 /etc/mysql/debian-start*
Please note the method to solve the problem

From a terminal, type:
% sudo chmod 755 /etc/mysql/debian-start
Then re-run the updates.
