Just to clarify, is this a fix to get the propriety drivers to work
correctly, or is this a work around so the propriety drivers are not
needed?

Hi Yotam thanks for your work on this. It's not yet clear to me how I
can take advantage of this fix. I am new to Linux, and I have never had
the Jaunty version on this (new HP mini 110) machine. Maybe the fix will
be included in the next update of Ubuntu Netbook?

I experience the same issue with dell xps 1340.
In "Hardware Drivers" it says: Broadcom STA wireless driver, this driver is
activated but not currently in use.
lspci gives:

Chris, try reinstalling bcmwl-kernel-source - it was installed already
for me too, "sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source" and a
reboot seemed to do the trick for me.

So installed bcmwl-kernel-source from Synaptic Package Manager, rebooted and
now have wireless working
