This is not a problem in Karmic, all of the fixes are included in libdrm the kernel and xserver-xorg-video-intel and are much too intrusive to backport to jaunty as far as I am aware. Ubuntu is not using UXA (which KMS requires) as the supported X acceleration method for Jaunty and this is not not
