Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS

pidgin:
  Installed: 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1~hardy2
  Candidate: 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1~hardy2
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1~hardy2 0
        500 http://ftp.uninett.no hardy-backports/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.3 0

     1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 0
        500 http://ftp.uninett.no hardy/main Packages

Cause: I submitted a (wrong!) command myself to upgrade to a newer version of
Pidgin from the console.
After that, the Update-Manager (and also the Synaptic Package Manager) refuses
to get and install updates for all new Ubuntu-related updates (not only for
Pidgin).

This happened two weeks ago and will detoriate my Ubuntu installation
due missing updates... ;-(
