According to http://gphoto.sourceforge.net/news/ support for the Canon
EOS 500D was added to the PTP2 driver in libgphoto2 2.4.7, which is the
version currently available in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. A request to
update the lucid packages to libgphoto2 2.4.8 has been filed under bug
#519811.

Well, I downloaded gphotofs from karmic repository (including
libgphoto2-2 and libgphoto2-port0) and now I can write normally ono my
SE C902 in nautilus.
Sorry for the confusion, I am actually NOT able to write on Canon EOS
500D even through the gphoto2 command line tool. It always throws PTP
I'm sorry, but as I said I am unable to reproduce this error using
gphoto2. Uploading files through gphoto2 tool works fine with both
devices (EOS 500D and SE C902).
For me, this is only reproducable using nautilus.
I don't know what exactly do you men by gvfs. Could you explain me what
should I
then its a gvfs bug actually :/
if somehow a gvfs / gphoto trace can be got that shows this write error
I can take a look at it.

I am not able to upload images to my EOS 500D even through the command
line gphoto2 tool from jaunty repository. I always get error -2 PTP
Parameter Not Supported.
