Virtually all machines made within the last 10-15 years do not have this
limitation, and due to the fragility of the msdos partition scheme, we
don't want to create a /boot partition by default.

Maybe grub error 18 is not a bug itself, but I think ubiquity should
avoid install /boot beyond the lba limit.
