After some issues upgrading to karmic, i was able to this out. This
seemed to fix the issue i was having in Xine, VLC, and mplayer.
All seems well on the home front in regard to this issue.

A new major version of the -intel driver is now available in Karmic.
This version includes a major reworking of the acceleration
architecture, which resolves a huge number of issues. We do not know
whether it resolves the issue you reported.

I've tried it on 1440x900, 800x600, and the virtual display size for the
dual screens. All result in xine loading then exiting. So it doesn't
work regardless of the resolution.

Yes, you're using the intel driver and xv is working fine. The driver
reports that it is out of ressources and xine can nothing do but quit.
I believe that this is a limitation in either your hardware or in the
driver. Does xine work if you lower the display resolution?
in any case, I open a bugt
as for what vid driver i'm using or if it has a working xv
extension...i'm not quite sure. is that answered in the xvinfo? if not
how would i find that out? thanks in advance
