the conflict problem is just a bug in the unofficial packages. the
ubuntu packages work fine. you can grab 0.80 from debian unstable.

Hi Mario,
Seems to be fixed on .0.80; I installed the .deb for Jaunty from the
PPA, and it worked. On the other hand, the .deb has a conflict for
Karmic, on app-install-data:
$ sudo dpkg -i shutter_0.80~ppa8_all.deb
[sudo] password for hggdh:
pam_mount(pam_mount.c:100): unknown pam_mount option
Can you still reproduce this with the latest version of Shutter (0.80)?

While thinking about a possible reason for your problem I've discovered
that Shutter is not checking directory permissions properly but I am not
exactly sure if
It seems I can repeat it at will: open shutter, Edit/Preferences, change
"Directory" from the default of your userId to (say) "FileSystem", then
change it back to your own userId.
