There are no recursive directories, so I'm not having the same problem as
the previous report. I've got another working computer with the same OS, so
I could copy the files from that and see if that fixes the problem, but I'll
wait until I hear from you.

jakartadean, do you want to say that cups-driverd is hanging on a single
PPD file for you and not on a link loop?

Update: I think I got a little lucky there as there are 20 files in the
directory, and cups-driverd adds, or tries to add, 19 of them.
OK6100_a.ppd.gz is the odd man out, so it seems that it's either that
file, or ok5400u1.ppd.gz which is causing the problem.

jakartadean, can you also post the output of the
/usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-driverd list 1 0 name=""
command? From the "DEBUG" output lines it is easily visible where cups-
driverd gets caught in an infinite loop. This will help us to find out
which driver package would have set up the link loop.
Justin, thanks for reporting back. So from your side the issue is
closed?
jakartadean, can you please open a Terminal, and run
/usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-driverd list 1 0 name=""
Does that finish after a minute or two, or does it keep spinning and
looping forever?

I am having a very similar problem after upgrading to Jaunty. My old HP
Deskjet D1360 is no longer recognized. cups-driverd pegs out at 49-50%
of my CPU, which presume is running full time on one core. No printers
are found by the system, even dmesg doesn't have any reports of a
printer being pl
