(64-bit) on an AMD64. it crashes whenever I try to use anything to do
with tables (either the create tables using the table wizard checkbox
or if I don't select that option and merely press the tables button

I had the same problem on my SuSE 10.0 and 10.1 - 64 boxes, so googling
to find the solution I arrived to this forum. I don't know if this will
work for you but I removed kde ooffice integration and it simply flies
now. Since all previous solution were temorarily solutions this one last
for a week
I can confirm this bug. Previously I thought it was SCIM, but I've
sinced removed it and OO crashes just the same.
All I need to do is create a document, click save and it hangs.

makes the happlication hang. Though other OpenOffice tools seems to be working
properly.
