Thank you! It is very useful to know that it worked with alpha 2 before upgrades. The one major change I can think of after alpha 2 is that kernel modesetting (KMS) has been enabled in the kernel. Could you try to disable KMS on an upgraded Karmic to see if KMS is the culprit? To do that, add the
