This bug is not fixable by Ubuntu unless it's fixed in a newer upstream
version imported by Ubuntu, since fglrx is a closed source driver.

The "underlining" you speak of is when the ATI drivers fail to load 3d
hardware acceleration support. When you fixed your acceleration, by
disabling AIGLX support, the underlining went away.

I have the same problem after upgrading to edgy rc. I didn't have this
problem in dapper. The bar below the pointer comes and goes and it's
hard to find a pattern.
