This is likely an issue with the script 'install-info' that you have installed. There are two 'install-info' scripts that exist, a Debian one and a GNU one. Generally, the Debian one should be used by package installations but it seems that the GNU is being tried instead. I would check your

I'm not sure what put an install-info in '/usr/local/bin/install-info'. It'd be interesting to know the output of 'dpkg -S /usr/local/bin /install-info'. If your $PATH variable is standard it'll look like: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games It

However, this symlink should have automatically been created, or the install-info version should have been Debian's one, and not GNU's one, causing clear compatibility problems. -- package libaa1-dev 1.4p5-37build1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit

Some software that you installed put an install-info script in '/usr/local/bin' which created this issue. However, partially to avoid issues like this Debian is removing the 'install-info' script with dpkg and there will only be the GNU one. ** Changed in: aalib (Ubuntu) Status: New =
