I can confirm this problem, and also that the debug option causes a
Segmentation Fault.
Let me know if you need anything else. I'm posting my info here instead of
creating a new bug report.

Did the same but with sudo! Doesn't show devices neither, but no more
permission errors!

Thanks for your report, could you run brasero from the command line as:
brasero --brasero-media-debug --debug &> brasero-debug.txt perform the
operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the
report?. Thanks in advance

This only appears to be a problem on my desktop. On my laptop, K3b and
Brasero both find the drive just fine. The laptop is Ubuntu with
kubuntu-desktop installed, and the desktop is pure Kubuntu. I think the
laptop started at 9.10 alpha 2, but it may have been alpha 1.

I also have this problem with K3b. Both K3b and Brasero work properly
when run as root. I am running Kubuntu 9.10 installed from Alpha 2.
