you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in

Sorry, I should really have replied earlier.
I can't test this bug, is currently not using Ubuntu Netbook Edtition, and
am unfortunately lacking the time and commitment to install it just for this
purpose sorry.

Have found a temporary solution that works for me:
Open "Start up programs"
Unklick the following:
UME Desktop Launcher
UNR Launcher
Create two new programs with the following commands:
gnome-panel
metacity
This will launch a standard gnome desktop, not the remix interface.

Have this problem too. Can be kind of fixed by writing a file
containing:
#!/bin/bash
netbook-launcher
running this file gets a netbook-remix menu but no panels. Switching to
normal interface works, but rebooting result in yet another empty
background (but with the file)
