I am also having this problem. I can start Ubuntu if USB is disabled in
bios but then the usb keyboard wont work in grub and I cant choose which
O/S I want to use.

I have never had a problem with a USB mouse and can't reproduce this
issue. I see that at one point it was fixed with a new kernel release,
however the last post prior to this one states the same issue.
Is this still an issue? Is it still occurring in the latest stable
releases?
