Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've

I am now running Karmic Alpha 4 from the live CD on the same laptop, and
still get the flashes and echo's. Very annoying. It makes Karmic Alpha 3
and 4 unusable.

Ubuntu better. Judging from your description, I am going to assign this
bug to the xserver-xorg-video-intel package in hopes that it will have a
faster response. If you believe that I have chosen the wrong package,

PS: I'm runnning Karmic 3 from the live CD, so it's a plain Ubuntu with
nog specific drivers installed by me.
