This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue,
Sorry the package was called ubuntu-laptop-mode. Installing this removed
laptop-mode-tools and something else (can't remember) and ever since I
have had no problems resuming from standby.

Ubuntu 9.10 does not have this problem.
There is a package named laptop-mode-tools installed.

Maybe a coincidence but I installed package laptop-mode last night for
some other reason and now suspend works flawlessly!
