I sold my old workstation and bought a new laptop, thus I do not use dual
screens any more so I have no idea if the bug is still present.

Now with the latest updated Lucid's packages is still annoyng ?

Try creating a window that is smaller than 640x480, does it still
disappear? If not, this might be a duplicate of bug #414134.

I forgot to write the exact commands I use to change the modes...maybe overkill
but here it is:
xrandr -s 0 (for mode 0...)
xrandr -s 1
xrandr -s 2
