Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Karmic Koala Alpha3. Installer crashed while installing GRUB. I think it
was looking for other operating systems at the time. Actually, every
installer has done this for a couple of years or more on my system. I
suspect it may be because I have one / partition housed on JFS. Here is
my fdisk -l:

Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sda8            5767       19457   109972926   83  Linux

and blkid:
/dev/sda1: SEC_TYPE="msdos" LABEL="DellUtility" UUID="07D9-0603" TYPE="vfat"
/dev/sda2: UUID="E0D4E1AED4E186DE" TYPE="ntfs"

/dev/sda6: UUID="a9536fa0-93cb-4aa8-8566-ecd184a9ed1d" TYPE="ext4"

/dev/sda8: UUID="f59c8794-0b38-4d7b-933b-eb3dfb3784b8" TYPE="jfs"

GRUB was in fact succesfully installed (using sda6 as root), but didn't list
sda5 as an operating system option.
I was able to boot and edit brub.cfg by hand to add the sda5 boot option.
