It seems to me it even happens more often on my ATi system than on my nVidia

I've just noticed these crashes do not happen as often (if at all - I
haven't been able to reproduce it) on Firefox 3.0.

Firefox has been crashing or locking up very frequently in the past 2
days or so on my Averatec 3280 laptop. Also sometimes when it does
crash, a message comes up saying that there isn't enough free memory to
send an automatic bug report. Epiphany does not seem to have this
problem.
