filesystems have an eject icon on the right side.

Hmm, I was going to report this upstream for Tango, but then I realized
that it might be Thunar doing this. Could you check whether this also
happens with other icon themes? And preferably report it to Thunar
directly (

Indeed, Thunar is doing this. AFAIK, there isn't any spec concerning
mounted/unmounted volumes display, so you can't really rely on different
icons. That's why it has been decided to display umounted volumes with a
more transparent icon.
