Closing as Invalid for emacs22, as this is unlikely to be caused in
anything within Emacs itself. If you can figure out what caused the
problem, obviously, feel free to change the status back to New. Thanks

Thanks a lot.
Reinstalled, via 'sudo aptitude reinstall', the emacs22-common package, and
Emacs it is working A Ok once again.
I sincerely don't have a clue as to why or how the
'/usr/share/emacs/22.2/lisp/international/' directory vanished from my system.
I keep tabs on all installed upd
The problematic package appears to be emacs22-common. Perhaps
reinstalling that could help you get your system back on track.
However, if there is a bug which caused its files to be lost, that bug
should be found and fixed.

No, I don't have a ´encoded-kb.elc´ on my box. go figure...
There is not even the 'international' directory:

The file /usr/share/emacs/22.2/lisp/international/encoded-kb.elc should
be part of the emacs22-common package. For a start, does it exist, and
if so, does it have the correct md5sum?
