I've just updated to 10.10 Maverick Meerkat and the bug is still there,
one slight change/improvement is that where originally I stated:
Once anything has been typed then the mouse is unable to 'pick up' the
'active' screen (prior to anything being typed it works).
This appears to now be fixed,
