Except if the new stripped version ships the mpeg2 encoder, no.
Anyway, I'll check with the stripped version, just to see what happen.

the changelog for 3.14.0-0ubuntu3 of the devede package clearly states
that the program only works correctly with the extra/unstripped version.
The current dependencies reflect that, so there is nothing to be done
here for devede.
