Here's a diff based on the current tip of HPLIP which should suffice
as pkservice.py and base/pkit.py haven't changed in several releases.
This will work with the current 3.9.8 plugin.

as possible and provide a patch for HPLIP 3.9.8? In Ubuntu we are after
feature freeze for Karmic now and so we cannot take the next HPLIP
release into Karmic, but patches are no problem.
