Looks like this took a while but Gambit-C version 4.8.8 is available in
Ubuntu 18.04 and later
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gambc/4.8.8-3).
I see there has been some work on packaging 4.9.3, but it fails on
build on some architectures, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
