aladi, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

mmc_core sdhci_pci sdhci and mmc_block not available in initramfs_tools
One additional comment: on systems that offer bootability from a Ricoh
SDHC controller, the initramfs will also need to include the ricoh_mmc
driver -- this driver disables the proprietary Ricoh MMC controller so
the standard SDHC controller can handle the cards instead.

mmc_core sdhci_pci
We are having Ricoh SD controller bootable system.
There was no need to include the ricoh_mmc driver in initramfs.

Jaunty installer (Ubuntu netbook remix) is also affected. I install
Ubuntu on a Acer Aspire one. I set up the root filesystem on a sdhc
card (/boot is on the inner flash). The partition tool and installer
work perfectly. But after reboot the linux kernel does not find the root
filesystem before I
SD card installation is possible but booting to Sd card is not possible
without updating the initrd image
